Statement
By reflecting on the instability of inherited economic structures and their influence on collective and individual agency, I make work that considers how social structures change over time, specifically within the conditions of capitalism. Primarily using ceramic, but also found objects and industrial mixed media, my works vary in size from metal installations that scale the gallery walls from floor to ceiling, to stand alone sculptures of life sized objects like shopping baskets and wrenches. I make work that holds space for both optimism and pessimism, and serves as a reminder that states of assemblage hold the possibility of transformation.
