The Election in Which All Cows are Black
2022
Wood, acrylic plexiglass, multicolored paper ballots
30" x 30" x 6"
The transparent sides reveal a rainbow of colored ballot cards inside each box that appear to be all one color when masked by the dominant red or blue of the voting box. The cows on the boxes reference G.W.F. Hegel’s famous criticism of Schelling’s conception of the Absolute, calling it “the night in which all cows are black.’
